IDrive for Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP

Download IBDrive Plus Setup Program

Setup Instructions:

Special Note: IBDrive plus is recommended if
 - you have a need to do concurrent access on an office document by multiple users
 - you have a need to edit a large document (say 50MB or more) without downloading the file first
 -  you have a need to stream a large multi-media file with an ability to start at any point on the file, instantaneously
For all other needs, we recommend the IBDrive application, mentioned above for most general purpose Network Drive usage for its ease of use, installation and full 128 bit SSL support. IBDrive Plus is based on CIFS/SMB protocol, and may require special firewall configurations.

  • After downloading, run the IDrive72Setup.exe from the location where you saved it, to install IBDrive plus.

  • After installing, click on the desktop Icon IBDrive Plus (alternatively you may choose to run IBDrive Plus automatically after installation by selecting Launch IBDrive Plus during setup)

  • Enter your IBackup Username/Password, select a Drive letter and click on Connect. Your IBackup account will be mapped to that drive letter. You may check the checkbox Reconnect automatically at logon to automatically reconnect your ibackup network drive every time you login or restart your computer.

  Troubleshooting Tips

IBDrive Plus works best with Windows 2000 and XP. However, with some tweaks, it can be made to work for Windows 98, Windows Me and NT with Service Pack 3 or higher. The tweaks are quite technical and we do not advise it for most of our users.

  • Client for Microsoft Networks should be  bound to TCP/IP. In other words, TCP/IP should be installed.

  • Default login should  not be set to Domain Controller, if it is, please uncheck the option.

  • Your Firewall (if any) should be set to allow ibdrive.com to pass through, For details please see instructions below.

  • For Windows 98/Me, Right Click on Network Neighborhood. Select Properties. Then ensure that when you highlight TCP/IP (your Network adapter) that the corresponding Primary Network Logon points to "Client for Microsoft Networks" and not to "Windows Logon".  Client for Microsoft Networks must NOT be bound to NetBEUI  (You can remove redundant components, eg IPX/SPX and NetBEUI, if you wish ). Back in the Network window, pick the Identification tab and set Computer name as your IBackup username.  Click on the Start menu and select Log Off. After you log off, the system will prompt you for an Username and Password. Enter your IBackup Username in the username text field and leave the password blank.  Click OK to login. Windows will now ask you if it should retain your individual settings to use when you log on in the future. Select Yes. You will now be logged in to your computer. Now run the IBDrive Plus application.

If your computer is behind a firewall (For IBDrive Plus only)

Please ensure the firewall your are using allows access to site name ibdrive.com for proper IBDrive Plus functioning.

If you are using ZoneAlarm, follow these steps:

1. Open the main window of ZoneAlarm and select the Security tab.
2. Click the Advanced button.
3. Click the Add button and select Host/Site.
4. Enter "IBDrive" as the description and ibdrive.com as the host name
of the server.

For Zonealarm Pro, go to 'Security', 'Advanced' then select "Local Zone Contents", then add ibdrive.com.
Also please note to keep the security settings at medium or lower for the IBDrive application to passthrough.

If you have any questions, comments, or have bug reports, please mail to support@cwrbs.com.

Concurrent Operations, Net Enabling Office Applications

IBDrive Plus lets multiple clients access and update the same file while preventing file-sharing conflicts. It also supports aggressive caching mechanisms, including read-ahead/write-behind without loss of cache coherency. Additionally, users will be able to interact with a file without downloading it to the local drive. Most other Network Drive implementations implement a downloading process in the background while you are interacting with a file. The difference can easily be seen in large databases and files.

IBDrive Plus is the only Internet based Network Drive Storage technology that can be used to execute concurrent operations such  as  simultaneous updates and accesses on an Access Database (try making changes to a row in a table, click on 'records' and select 'refresh', you will see the corresponding rows  accessed by others updated and will see the most current view of the data).

IBDrive Plus even supports streaming. Businesses would find this feature very valuable, combining the ease of network drive and streaming technology  to 'push' multimedia broadcast messages directly onto users' desktops. A large multi-media file can be instantaneously opened using any multi-media player such as Windows Media Player and can be played from any position in the file almost instantaneously.

IBDrive Plus technology enables Network Attached Storage concept over the internet with full set of features including the ability to add storage on the fly, create Sub-Accounts or Sub-Storages with quotas and permissions , and of course, serving files as in traditional Network Attached Storage devices.
